This knotwork design is taken from an ancient Celtic cross originating in Ireland/Scotland. Ave beads are amethyst, Paternoster beads and dragon cross are sterling silver.    $165.

The rose, the embodiment of beauty, mystery, and perfection in Roman times, became a favored Christian symbol. "Rosary" is derived from rosarium, meaning "rose garden. There are many types of rosaries or prayer beads in use throughout the world, each with their own symbology and pattern of use. These Roman Catholic rosaries are made up of a chaplet of "Ave" beads divided into decades by a larger "Paternoster" bead. The number three, which is a basic component of rosary iconography, has a complex history dating back to early Ireland.

A small sample of rosary designs pictured are below. However, any of the crosses in the McKeown collection can be selected as the central motif for a unique rosary designed specifically for you. A unique Southwestern design by Deanne McKeown. Ave beads are 6mm turquoise, Paternoster beads and Tlaquepaque cross are sterling silver. The history of the Tlaquepaque cross is discussed below.  $165.

The crucifix portion of this rosary is a faithful reproduction of an 18th century cross brought to the New World by Spanish priests. It is handcast in sterling silver and bronze with  rosewood and bronze beads. This is a large rosary (the crucifix is approximately 2" long) and  looks lovely in a wall arrangement.       $235.
