Crystal Stick
In the fall of 1933, a 26 year old Katherine Houghton Hepburn boarded a United Airlines flight in Los Angeles. She flew to Kansas City, Missouri where she starred as 'Rosalind' in William Shakespeare's play, 'As You Like It.'
The play was presented in the luxurious  Orpheum Theatre which was built in 1914 to resemble the Paris Opera House.
Ms. Hepburn stayed next door at the equally luxurious Muehlbach Hotel.
In 1962 the Orpheum Theatre was demolished to make room for an addition to the Hotel. The Theatre faded into history.
Unlike the theatre, Katherine Hepburn is vividly remembered by her many fans.
I designed this stick as a tribute to Katherine Hepburn's performance at the Orpheum. The solid brass head is purported to have been salvaged from the theatre's dressings rooms.
The shaft is laminated bamboo. The fittings are 100 grams of sterling silver and were cast in Sedona, Arizona.
                  One of a kind.         $775.
